Diabetes and Neurological risk factors
The commodity/correlation between diabetes and depression
Discuss the prevalence of the comorbidity between these two. Highlight what studies and research state regarding the prevalence of the comorbidity. Find information by using systemic reviews, meta-analyses, longitudinal studies, cohort studies, etc. Utilize academic, scholarly journals

What is causing the depression and diabetes comorbidity?
Discuss what theories suggest are common etiology, causal pathways, and risk factors. Consider the bidirectional relationship (depression increase the risk of diabetes AND diabetes increases the risk of depression---see Berge and Riise (2015) article listed below).
Examine the biological, neurological, hormonal mechanisms such as 1) Hypothalamic Pituitary Axis; 2) Sympathetic nervous system, 3) chronic inflammation (proinflammatory cytokines); 4) Cortisol and stress hormones
For example: Depression increases activity in the HPA axis which leads to hypercortisolemia, a precursor for insulin resistance and elevated glucose levels-----Type 2 DM.
Examine psychological/behavioral factors (i.e., lifestyle factors)
Burden of diabetes
management of diabetes, lifestyle restrictions, etc.
