PRIMARY SOURCE
Primary sources are first-hand accounts of history (e.g. letters, artifacts, skeletal remains, medical records, photographs, etc.) that come directly from the historical period one is studying. In this unit you read about slavery and the Middle Passage. After reading Olaudah Equiano’s description aboard a slave ship in the link below (a primary source, since he was there), write a 350-word MLA-styled essay that answers the following question: What is the main point that Equiano wanted the reader of this passage to understand? Was there anything specific about the slave experience? Explain your answer and support it with examples.
